Meals

High quality food plays a critical role in the quality of life we all experience. Arthur’s assisted living services include meals and snacks which are prepared in our kitchen and are shared family style with residents and staff around the dining room table. Residents get to enjoy delicious cooking aromas and are encouraged to participate in meal or snack preparation when desired. If our residents don’t like what’s on the menu, we’ve always got something to substitute on-hand.  One of our past residents loved liverwurst sandwiches on pumpernickel rye with sauerkraut and provolone, so we kept it on hand for her! Snacks are available anytime, and we can accommodate residents who need special food preparation such as mechanically soft, pureed, fine-chopped, or thickened liquids.

Transportation

Transportation to activities, medical specialist appointments, or community outings is available depending on staff availability and level of needs at the house. Getting out and about can be a very refreshing activity for everyone!

Activities

Our assisted living services include a variety of activities tailored around each resident’s social, emotional and spiritual needs and interests. Activities may include listening to music, nature, bird and wildlife watching, reading, religious activities, playing games, watching a ballgame, and doing baking and crafts in the home. Looking at family photo albums or items in a treasure box can also help to trigger wonderful memories. Some of our favorite community activities include trips to the conservatory, movies, concerts, going out to eat, walks, picnics, shopping and more. As our residents age and their diseases or conditions progress, they desire to leave the house less, preferring quieter, simpler activities.

Housekeeping and Laundry

Housekeeping and laundry of wash-and-wear items are included in the monthly rate for assisted living services. Residents who wish to remain independent are encouraged to participate at any level they are able if they enjoy that. Sometimes being able to help with household tasks is an important way for a resident to remain engaged in day-to-day activity. Bed sheets and towels are provided.
